About Ashburn, GA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Ashburn, Georgia is lovely and quaint, with a healthy dose of Southern charm. Georgians are known for their warmth, friendliness and mesmerizing southern accents. When it comes to food, they are known for their peaches and their delicious down home cooking. Biscuits, fried chicken, greens and baked beans are all southern specialties that can be found both in local homes and dining establishments. The weather in the area is generally moderate and nice. Summers are hot enough for the pool and ice cream while the winters bring generally light snowfalls and cold enough temperatures for a nice mug of hot cocoa on the porch.
People in this part of the world wave to strangers and offer to help you work on your broken down car without a second thought. The culture in the area is one of giving, sharing and loyalty. A great example of the neighborly atmosphere is the Fire Ant Festival, held every fourth weekend in March. There, residents and visitors will find art, carnival rides, a strawberry cook off, BBQ competition, and fireworks. There are also the Fire Ant Call, Find the Fire Ant, Fire Ant 5k, and Miss Fire Ant Pageant. All of this happens in the lovely, warm spring weather of March in Georgia when it is neither too hot nor too cold.
The marks of the antebellum south as well as the Civil Rights Movement and agricultural history are all over this part of America. A trip or visit to this town would not be complete without exploring local history. For example, all of the downtown area of nearby Vienna is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A huge part of that same area is a Local Historic District, as well. If it is a cool day, take a self-guided driving tour to see it all! Prettier day? Walk it. Grab a $5.00 tour booklet at the Vienna City Hall or the Georgia Cotton Museum. Whatever you do, be sure to learn a bit about the history of this fascinating part of the world.
